Understanding Segments and List Layout in Marketing

This article explains the Segments feature in ClearCRM, and details the List layout used for organizing and managing segments.

What Are Segments?

Segments are categorized lists of contacts that can be used for targeted marketing campaigns. Users can filter leads and customers into different groups based on specific criteria.

Navigating the Segments Page

Upon accessing Marketing > Segments, users see the Segments dashboard with a summary of total segments and a table displaying segment details.

Common Buttons and Features

  • Add New Segment – Opens a form to create a new segment.

  • View Options – Users can switch between List, Chart, and Kanban views.

  • Filter Button – Allows users to filter segments based on custom criteria.

  • Entries Per Page Selector – Users can choose to display 10, 25, 50, 100, or all items.

  • Search Bar – Quickly locate specific segments.

  • Sorting by Columns – Clicking on column headers arranges items in ascending or descending order.

  • Export Button – Exports the segment list in a preferred format.

List Layout

By default, segments are shown in a tabular format with the following columns:

  • Name – The segment's title.

  • Filter Type – The criteria used to filter contacts.

  • Total Contacts – The number of contacts in the segment.

  • Category – The segment’s classification.

  • Published – Indicates whether the segment is live.
